Ken came round to the hotel to share breakfast with us. It was a warm sunny morning as we set off round Edmonton on the ring road to head south on Hwy 2. That weather was short lived and soon we were in the rain again. We stopped for a break at Bashaw taking the back roads through the canola and wheat fields.

| This is one of the back roads to Drumheller, notice the sunshine!! |
Flower Shop Café that served good coffee!
We went there and while I enjoyed my latte, Alan searched for a place on the internet in Calgary to fit a new rear tyre to the GS. He found a bike garage that had one in stock but were too busy to take the wheel off the bike but would fit it to the rim.
We arrived in Drumheller at 1:30, dropped our stuff at the motel and headed off for the Royal Tyrell Museum to look at the dinosaurs. Drumheller is in a canyon cut by the Red Deer River in the sedimentary rocks that form the plain. Many dinosaur fossils have been exposed in the canyon walls. The museum was a sprawling place and laid out in a long continuous display through many different rooms. We booked a walking tour into the Badlands as the canyon was called. After some lunch we started on the museum. There were skeletons of all sorts of dinosaurs from the smallest to the biggest.
Tyranosaurus Rex chasing its prey.
A Dinosaur turd!
Triceratops.
Breakout rooms depicted associated things like recovering and preserving the fossilised bones, what made the dinosaurs go extinct, etc. While we were in the museum it started to rain and the walking tour was cancelled, which was a bummer.
When we got back to the motel it was pouring so I parked outside our room under the stairs. There were half a dozen Harleys in the parking lot, the riders having had enough of the rain and wanted to dry out. We called Elaine for directions to her farm and also Bill to let him know we were in the area.
